Local tech platform celebrates home daycare providers for Small Business Week
Her Yes Club, Canada’s first home daycare management app, cast the spotlight on some of the hardest working small business owners in our communities — home daycare providers

Bowmanville, ON – With Canada’s ongoing childcare shortage leaving many parents struggling to find quality options, Her Yes Club, a local tech startup, hosted an event to recognize and celebrate the providers who open their homes each day to support families and fill that gap.
Celebrating Small Business Week
Her Yes Club hosted a brunch to kick off Small Business Wee, celebrating the home daycare providers who make childcare possible for so many families. The event included providers, parents, and community partners — including Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. The appreciation event, held Sunday in Bowmanville, shone a light on the vital role home daycare providers play as small business owners in supporting working parents and the local economy.
“Childcare is one of the most important parts of our economy, but society often overlooks those who provide it,” said Carmen Doucette, founder of Her Yes Club. “Home daycare providers are small business owners who deserve recognition and resources. Through events like this and the Her Yes Club platform, we’re helping them operate more efficiently, reach more families, and feel supported in the work that keeps our communities strong.”
Bowmanville’s first home daycare appreciation event
Centered on connection and appreciation, guests enjoyed a complimentary brunch with mimosas, coffee, and a themed photo area. The event encouraged meaningful conversations among attendees. And many shared stories and experiences about the joys and challenges of providing home-based child care.
“Events like this remind us that we’re not alone,” said Michele Hooper-Latin, who has been providing home-based childcare for seven years. “It means so much to connect with others who share the same passion. Her Yes Club is solving a huge problem and is exactly what providers like us have been waiting for! It’s going to make such a difference.”
Local partners made the event possible, including Foster Films Canada, The Wellington Lofts, James Printing & Signs, Apple Blossom Flowers, and Sugar and Love Bakery.
The appreciation event underscored both the dedication and innovation driving the childcare sector. Her Yes Club is Canada’s first mobile app built specifically for home daycare providers. It helps them manage daily operations efficiently while connecting with parents searching for care.
The app helps providers manage their business while making it easier for parents to find and secure care
Providers can use the app to create a daycare profile, manage enrollments, track children’s information (including allergies, emergency contacts, and pickup permissions), communicate with families through an in-app chat, and securely share photos and documents. Parents, in turn, can find and connect with trusted local providers, all in one place.
Additional membership tiers are coming soon, offering enhanced tools for providers to grow their business and strengthen relationships with families.
Her Yes Club is now available to download on both the App Store and Google Play Store, offering free early access to providers who sign up this fall. To learn more, visit Her Yes Club online.
